Ron had a burst stomach ulcer and almost died.  It had gone undetected for months because of his underlying heart issues.  He never truly recovered from that although he tried his very best to continue to enjoy life.  We went to Hestercombe with U3A Photography a few months after the ulcer burst and bless him he walked all round the lake holding my arm  He agreed to go on the trip because he knew it was a place I had wanted to visit for a long time.  It must have been difficult for him but he never said.
